This is a CORE KNOWLEDGE (test) event. Teams will interpret questions based on one or more state highway maps, USGS topographic maps, Internet-generated maps, a road atlas, or satellite/aerial images. Up to 2 students per team.
Core Knowledge Event: An event where participants are given a set of topics that they are expected to research and master the factual content. Mastery is demonstrated at a tournament by taking a paper-pencil, station, or computer test.
Road Scholar is in the Earth and Space Sciences category.
This year's Road Scholar, Regional Tournament will focus on these states: Delaware, District of Columbia, and Virginia. The Event will be based on the current July 2024 version of the AAA map all-in-one map.
FYI Technically the map is not needed during the event- Pictures are provided as part of the exam. However, having the map would provide a better image, and you can write on your own map.
